Indian Robin
While some may mistake the male Indian Robin for a Drongo due to its black plumage, the differences are clear: drongos possess a deeply forked tail and an arboreal lifestyle, hunting insects in flight, whereas the Indian Robin remains grounded with its cocked, square-ended tail and terrestrial foraging.

Black Drongo
An adaptable medium-sized songbird of open areas and a common sight as a familiar dark silhouette perched on wires, fences, or snags. Uniform black plumage flashes blue and green iridescence in favorable light. A pugnacious species, frequently chasing away larger birds with repeated dives and harsh chattering calls. A skilled mimic of other species, and a strong songster in general, delivering a wide range of pleasant fluty calls, harsh chattering, nasal notes, and high sharp whistles.

Purple Heron
In Telangana, finding the Purple Heron (Ardea purpurea) often requires patient observation in dense, freshwater wetlands like those near the Ameenpur Lake or the Manjeera Wildlife Sanctuary. Unlike the bolder Gray Heron, this species is a master of camouflage within reed beds.

Gray Heron
The Gray Heron (Ardea cinerea) is a long-legged wading bird of the heron family, Ardeidae, native throughout temperate Europe and Asia, and also parts of Africa. Generally quite common and conspicuous in wetland habitats from marshes and tidal flats to small ponds, ditches, and wet fields; nests colonially in tall trees. Mainly seen as singles or in small groups, standing quietly in or at the edge of water, less often hunting in fields. Plumage is mostly gray overall, with paler neck; the adult has white crown, black eyebrows, and a black shoulder patch. Like other herons and egrets, flies with neck pulled in to form a bulge.

Bay-backed Shrike
The Bay-backed Shrike is a brightly-colored small shrike, reminiscent of the Long-tailed Shrike in overall coloration. It has a black mask, rufous flanks & back, a clean white throat, and its small size makes it distinctive within its range. It prefers open areas, often in dry regions, with scattered vegetation. Often perches up on exposed snags, fenceposts, or telephone lines.

Red-naped Ibis
A medium-sized ibis with a dark body, often showing a bluish-green sheen. The crown and nape are covered in bright red warts. A white patch is usually visible near the shoulder of the wing. The bill is long and downcurved. This species can be confused with the similar-looking Glossy Ibis, but Glossy Ibis is smaller and lacks the red warts and white shoulder patch. In flight, the legs of Red-naped Ibis don’t extend beyond the tail, unlike in Glossy Ibis. Unlike most other ibis, Red-naped favors drier habitats, such as rye fields. It is usually found singly or in loose groups.
