The Rufous-tailed Lark/ Rufous-tailed Finch-lark, is a ground bird found in the drier open stony habitats of India and parts of Pakistan. Like other species in the genus it has a large finch-like bill with a slightly curved edge to the upper mandible.

The ashy-crowned sparrow-lark is a small sparrow-sized member of the lark family found on the plains in open land with bare ground, grass and scrub across South Asia. A small, stocky bird with a heavy, finch-like bill. The males have a gray head that contrasts with a black eye-stripe & black on the collar, throat, and underparts. The females are pale brown with weak streaks on the head, back, and underparts. Similar to the Black-crowned Sparrow-Lark, but the Ashy-crowned males are told apart by the gray on the head.

The Bay-backed Shrike is a brightly-colored small shrike, reminiscent of the Long-tailed Shrike in overall coloration. It has a black mask, rufous flanks & back, a clean white throat, and its small size makes it distinctive within its range. It prefers open areas, often in dry regions, with scattered vegetation. The Asian Koel is a large shy bird, distinctive in all plumages, usually secretive, keeping to the interior of dense trees in many habitats belonging to the cuckoo order of birds, the Cuculiformes. It is found in the Indian Subcontinent, China & Southeast Asia. It forms a superspecies with the closely related black-billed koels, and Pacific koels which are sometimes treated as subspecies. This is a bird without borders, frequently heard but rarely seen.

The painted stork is a large wader in the stork family with a long yellow bill that curves down at the tip. The Indian Silverbill or White-throated Munia is a small, long-tailed finch with a chunky body and short, stout bill. It is gray-brown above & pale below with a whitish rump and black-pointed tail. It is highly sociable and is found in semidesert, scrub, and dry woodland but also proliferates in urban areas. Distribution is centered on the Indian subcontinent and it is a popular cage bird and feral populations are widespread.

The Pied Bush Chat is a small passerine bird found ranging from West Asia and Central Asia to the Indian subcontinent & Southeast Asia. About sixteen subspecies are recognised through its wide range with many island forms. It is a sedentary “chat” associated with open habitats in tropical and subtropical Asia. The males are black with a white vent and a white wing patch while the females are dark brown with a reddish-brown rump and underparts. Females can resemble the migratory Siberian Stonechat, but can be separated by the absence of an eyebrow and of any white on the collar or wing.
